On 10 July 2026, HOSTAFRICA published a comparison that presents its product as the AI option and Truehost Website Builder as a manual, traditional alternative. That description is not accurate.
Truehost Website Builder is powered by Olitt, our AI website-building platform.
It can generate a complete ready to ship website from a business description, including the layout, written content, images and SEO-ready pages, within 5 minutes.
You can then refine the result with inline and visual editing instead of building every page from a blank canvas.
The distinction matters because the HOSTAFRICA comparison bases its verdict on claims that Truehost is a “traditional drag-and-drop builder,” requires users to “build each page manually” and runs on a “third-party platform.”
Current product evidence contradicts all three characterisations.
This is our response and a practical buyer’s guide. It separates AI generation from visual editing, compares the published plans, and shows which features actually help a South African business turn a website into enquiries, customers and sales.
Accuracy note: We checked the live HOSTAFRICA comparison, HOSTAFRICA AI Builder page, Truehost Website Builder page, Olitt product pages and Olitt help documentation on 18 July 2026.
Prices and features can change, so confirm the live checkout terms before buying. We did not run an independent speed or uptime benchmark, and this article makes no performance winner claim.

The Short Answer
Both HOSTAFRICA and Truehost offer AI website generation, so the premise that HOSTAFRICA uses AI while Truehost only offers manual page building is false.
HOSTAFRICA’s entry product is designed for a basic website. Its own product page says the AI creates a starting layout, design and content.
It also says the basic AI Builder does not support online selling or bookings, does not include email hosting, and requires a move to a different builder and a website rebuild when those capabilities are needed.

Truehost Website Builder uses Olitt AI to create the site, then connects it to a wider business toolkit.
Depending on the plan, that toolkit includes:
Functional forms,
Contact management,
Email marketing,
Drip campaigns,
Business email powered by Truehost Workplace,
Online shop (separate builder),
SEO Controls
Built in SEO during generation
Smart SEO schemas generation (Structured data)
WhatsApp and social integrations
Free domains on select tlds
If you need only a small brochure site, either product may be suitable. If the website must capture leads, follow up with contacts, support richer SEO or grow into online selling, Truehost offers the more complete published path.
HOSTAFRICA’s Main Claims, Fact-Checked
Claim or implication in HOSTAFRICA’s article | What the current evidence shows | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
HOSTAFRICA is the AI option; Truehost is the traditional option | Both products generate websites with AI. Olitt AI generates copy, layout, images and SEO-ready pages for Truehost customers. | False distinction |
Truehost users must build each page manually | Olitt creates a complete ready to ship website. Manual controls and inline editing are available after generation. | False |
Drag-and-drop proves Truehost is not AI-powered | AI generation and visual editing are separate stages. A website builder without visual editing is itself useless | Misleading |
Olitt is merely a third-party platform | Our website builder is built, and supported by Truehost | Materially inaccurate |
HOSTAFRICA is the clear choice for speed and simplicity | No independent side-by-side timing or usability test is presented. Both companies publish claims that their AI can produce a site in about a minute or within minutes. | Not proven |
HOSTAFRICA provides stronger overall value | The comparison omits many Truehost features and does not disclose important limitations of HOSTAFRICA’s basic AI plan. | Incomplete |
The problem is that its verdict depends on an incorrect description of the competing product.
Truehost Website Builder Is an AI Website Builder
Truehost customers do not have to choose between AI and visual control.
The Olitt workflow combines both:
Describe the business. Give the AI a business name, category, location or short description.
Generate the first draft. Olitt creates the page structure, written content, images and SEO-ready layout.
Review the result. Check the facts, offers, contact details, imagery and calls to action.
Edit visually. Change text inline, replace images, move or reuse components, and adjust colours, fonts and sections. This way you don’t waste time and credits asking AI to change a text, for instance
Add business tools. Connect forms, contacts, campaigns, an online shop, payments, analytics, WhatsApp and other integrations as needed.
Publish. Use an Olitt subdomain or connect a domain you already own.
AI gets you past the blank page. The visual editor gives you control over what the AI produced.
HOSTAFRICA follows a similar two-stage idea. Its own AI Builder product page says users answer questions, receive an AI-generated starting layout and content, then edit the result.
This is why a fair comparison must evaluate the quality and business capabilities of both complete workflows, not assign AI to one brand and drag-and-drop to the other.

The Biggest Difference Is What Happens After the Site Is Generated
Generating a home page quickly is useful. It is not the whole job.
A business website must help a visitor understand the offer, trust the business and take the next step.
That usually requires some combination of search visibility, a working form, contact storage, follow-up messages, payments and customer communication.
Truehost connects the website to a marketing system
With Truehost and Olitt, a form submission does not have to end as a message buried in an inbox.
Form data can feed the contact system, where the business can organise and segment leads. The marketing suite can then support newsletters, bulk email and drip campaigns.
Olitt’s marketing suite publishes eight connected areas: overview, analytics, contacts, segments, campaigns, messages, forms and popups.
We also support email, SMS and in-app messages from one composer.
That creates a practical flow:
Visitor finds the site →
visitor completes a form →
contact enters the list →
business follows up →
campaign performance is measured.
HOSTAFRICA’s comparison does not evaluate this workflow.
Its current basic AI Builder page focuses on generating and editing a basic site and does not list equivalent contact, form, email-campaign or automation capabilities.
Truehost provides more specific on-page SEO controls
“SEO included” can mean almost anything. Buyers should ask what they can actually control.
Truehost and Olitt publish the following capabilities:
Editable page titles and meta descriptions;
Clean heading structure and mobile-ready pages;
Sitemap and Google Search Console integration;
Google Analytics 4, Tag Manager and Meta Pixel integrations;
Schema generator for local businesses, products, services, events, articles and FAQs; and
Support for review and testimonial content, including structured local-business information.
Schema does not guarantee a rich result or a top Google ranking. Google decides when enhanced search features appear, and content quality, competition, authority and technical health still matter.
The value is that the structured-data controls are built into the workflow instead of requiring a business owner to write JSON-LD by hand.
Review and rating markup also has rules. Google says eligible product pages can use Review or AggregateRating data for review snippets, but a local business cannot earn self-serving star snippets by marking up reviews about itself on its own website.
Truehost can make valid schema easier to add; it cannot override Google’s review-snippet policies. Use real, visible review data and validate every implementation before publishing.
HOSTAFRICA’s response article lists “basic SEO tools” for Truehost but does not evaluate Olitt’s schema generator or connected search and analytics tools.
Its own basic AI Builder page does not publish an equally specific SEO feature list.
Truehost supports a more direct path to selling online
HOSTAFRICA’s own FAQ says its basic AI Builder cannot sell products or accept bookings.
A customer must move to the separate Blog & Store Builder, and the page warns that this requires redesigning and rebuilding the website.
Truehost Website Builder Pro includes a shop and payment acceptance in the published plan. Granted, ours is still a separate builder for digital shops, but with two differences:
A Website Pro subscription let’s you build either a website or an online shop
The shop builder now has an AI-powered generation flow so you can get setup in minutes

The shop builder platform supports product listings and variations, checkout, payment links, carts, invoices, order management and customer syncing to the marketing suite.
This does not mean every business needs the Pro plan.
It means a business can start with a simple site while retaining a clearer upgrade path if selling becomes important.
Pricing: R29 vs R30 Does Not Tell the Whole Story
HOSTAFRICA’s product page displayed a promotional price of R29 per month, reduced from R99, when checked on 18 July 2026.
Its comparison highlights Truehost’s entry price but does not state its own price in the head-to-head table.
Truehost Website Builder Starter displays R 30 per month as the monthly equivalent when billed triennially.
That is a 36-month billing commitment, and buyers should consider the full payable term rather than reading the figure as a month-to-month plan.

Truehost Website Builder Starter plan as captured in July 2026. The live checkout remains the final source for price and billing terms.
The meaningful comparison is what the entry plan includes:
Entry-plan consideration | HOSTAFRICA AI Builder | Truehost Website Builder Starter |
|---|---|---|
Published price at review date | Promotional R29/month, with R99 shown as the reference price | R 30/month equivalent on a triennial term |
Intended site | Basic website | AI website with lead and marketing tools |
Storage | Not stated on the reviewed page | 1 GB |
Bandwidth | Not stated | Unlimited |
Forms | Not stated | 5 |
Contacts | Not stated | 100 |
Marketing tools | Not stated | Marketing Suite Lite |
Email hosting | Not included | Not listed on Starter; included from Pro |
Online selling or bookings | Not included in the basic builder | Upgrade to Pro for shop and payment acceptance |
Money-back period | 30 days | Check the live Truehost checkout terms |
For a business that only wants a basic online profile, the R1 promotional difference may matter.
For a business that wants enquiries and follow-up, forms, contacts and marketing tools matter more than the gap between two headline prices.
The Pro plan changes the comparison
Truehost Website Builder Pro displays R 70 per month as the triennial monthly equivalent.
It includes:
10 GB storage,
25 forms,
500 contacts,
three business email accounts,
a shop,
payment acceptance,
the marketing suite and
auto prospecting.
The Business plan adds 50 GB storage, unlimited forms, 2,000 contacts, seven business email accounts and a simple done-for-you website service.
Its displayed triennial monthly equivalent is R 283 per month.
What HOSTAFRICA’s Article Gets Right
Now what’s actually correct:
Both builders target beginners and do not require coding.
Both can connect a custom domain.
Both include hosting and SSL.
Both provide a free subdomain.
HOSTAFRICA’s AI Builder can generate a basic starting site from business information.
Truehost’s lowest displayed monthly equivalent requires triennial billing, and that commitment should be stated prominently.
A business that only needs a simple brochure website may not use Truehost’s larger marketing and commerce toolkit.
Which Website Builder Should You Choose?
Choose HOSTAFRICA AI Builder if all of these are true
You need a basic brochure or personal website.
You are satisfied with the promotional price and its current renewal terms in the upwards of R99.
You do not need email hosting in the package.
You do not need online selling or bookings in the basic builder.
You are comfortable rebuilding on a separate HOSTAFRICA product if those needs appear later.
You prefer HOSTAFRICA as your support provider.
Choose Truehost Website Builder if any of these are important to you:
You want AI to generate the site rather than starting from a blank template.
You want inline and visual editing after generation.
You need working forms and a place to manage the contacts they capture.
You want email broadcasts, drip campaigns, segments, SMS or messaging tools connected to the website.
You need built-in SEO controls and schema options for richer search context.
You expect to add a shop, payments or customer management.
You want business email included on the higher plans.
You use WhatsApp, social media and analytics as part of your customer journey.
You want reusable components for faster updates across the site.
If your business needs the second list, build your website with Truehost and Olitt AI.
Choose the plan by the business workflow you need, not by an inaccurate AI-versus-manual label.
A Five-Minute Buying Checklist
Before paying either provider, ask these questions:
What does the AI generate? Confirm whether it creates only copy, or also layout, images, page structure and SEO fields.
What happens after a form is submitted? Ask where submissions are stored, whether contacts can be segmented, and how follow-up works.
Which SEO controls are editable? Check titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, redirects, analytics and structured data.
Can the site grow into a shop? Ask whether upgrading preserves the website or forces a rebuild on another product.
What is included in email? Separate business mailboxes from marketing email campaigns. They solve different problems.
What is the real billing commitment? Compare the payable term, promotional period and renewal price, not only the monthly equivalent.
Can you use your own domain? Confirm DNS control and what happens to the domain if you leave.
Can you export or migrate your content? Understand platform lock-in before the site becomes business-critical.
Who supports the builder? Check support channels, hours and whether help covers only hosting or the editor too.
Can you test the full workflow? Generate a site, submit its form, open it on a phone, inspect the search settings and test the checkout before committing long term.
The Verdict: Compare the Products That Exist Today
HOSTAFRICA’s comparison is built around an AI-versus-drag-and-drop contest that does not exist.
The more useful contrast is narrower:
HOSTAFRICA AI Builder is positioned as a fast generator for a basic website.
Truehost and Olitt combine AI website generation with forms, contacts, SEO schema, email marketing, messaging, business email and a plan-based path to online selling.
HOSTAFRICA may still suit a customer who wants its specific basic product. But once the missing facts are restored, it cannot reasonably be described as the only AI option or the automatic value winner.
The best choice depends on what the website must do after it goes live. If it must attract, capture, organise and follow up with customers, compare the full system, not just the first minute of site generation.
Create your AI website with Truehost and choose a plan that matches the forms, contacts, email and selling tools your business needs.
HOSTAFRICA vs Truehost Website Builder FAQs
Does Truehost have an AI website builder?
Yes. Truehost Website Builder is powered by Olitt AI. It can generate the site’s layout, content, images and SEO-ready pages from a business description. The user can then refine the generated result with visual and inline editing.
Is Olitt a third-party website builder?
Olitt has its own product name and interface, but describing it as an unrelated third-party builder is inaccurate. Truehost Cloud’s published history says it developed Olitt, and Olitt is integrated into the Truehost client area for customer access.
Which is cheaper, HOSTAFRICA AI Builder or Truehost Website Builder?
The two entry prices were nearly identical when checked on 18 July 2026, but the billing terms and inclusions were not. HOSTAFRICA displayed a promotional monthly price, while Truehost’s lowest monthly equivalent required triennial billing. Check both live checkouts and compare the full payable term, renewal price and included tools.
Can I sell products with these AI website builders?
Truehost Website Builder Pro includes a shop and payment acceptance. HOSTAFRICA says its basic AI Builder does not support selling or bookings; customers must move to its separate Blog & Store Builder, which requires redesigning and rebuilding the website.
Does Truehost Website Builder include SEO tools?
Yes. Published capabilities include editable page titles and meta descriptions, mobile-ready pages, SSL, a sitemap, Search Console and analytics integrations, plus structured data for local businesses, products, services, events, articles and FAQs. These tools support SEO but do not guarantee rankings or rich results. Review and rating markup must also comply with Google’s eligibility and self-serving-review rules.
Does Truehost connect forms to marketing tools?
Yes. Truehost’s published plans include forms and contact limits, while Olitt’s marketing suite supports contacts, segments, campaigns, messages, forms, popups, bulk email and drip automation. Available limits depend on the selected plan.
Can I connect my own domain to either builder?
Yes. Both providers publish support for connecting a custom domain and both offer a free platform subdomain. Confirm domain ownership, DNS access and transfer rules before purchasing.
Which builder is better for a growing small business?
Truehost is the stronger published fit when the business needs forms, contact management, marketing campaigns, business email, structured SEO data, messaging or online selling. HOSTAFRICA’s basic AI Builder may suit a buyer who only needs a simple website and prefers its support environment.
