The .co.za domain price increase for 2026 takes effect on 1 October, when the wholesale registry fee rises from R65 to R69 per domain.
ZADNA has announced the adjustment as a 6.2% increase, affecting .co.za, .org.za, .net.za and .web.za domains.
If you own a domain or plan to register one, the question is straightforward: how much more will you pay?
That depends on your domain provider. The announced increase applies to wholesale registry fees, while the registration and renewal prices you see at checkout are set by your registrar.

How much is the .co.za domain price increasing?
The wholesale fee will increase by R4 per domain from October 2026.
Detail | Before the increase | From 1 October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
Wholesale registry fee | R65 | R69 |
Difference | — | R4 per domain |
Announced percentage increase | — | Approximately 6.2% |
The change begins at 00:00 South African Standard Time (SAST) on 1 October 2026.
Applicable transactions successfully processed before that deadline will attract the existing registry fee.
R69 is the wholesale fee, rather than a universal customer price. Your final bill depends on your provider’s pricing, any applicable promotion and how taxes are displayed.
Why are .co.za domain prices increasing?
ZADNA says the adjustment follows its approved Consumer Price Index (CPI)-linked pricing methodology, adopted after public consultation in 2024.
According to the authority, the revised fee supports continued investment in:
Registry infrastructure and reliable domain name services.
DNS resilience and cybersecurity.
Domain abuse management.
Regulatory compliance and service delivery.
Long-term development of South Africa’s domain ecosystem.

The change therefore originates at the registry level and affects the costs that domain providers work with when setting their prices.
Which domain extensions are affected?
The announcement covers four South African domain extensions:
.co.za
.org.za
.net.za
.web.za
It does not announce a price adjustment for .com, .africa, .joburg or .capetown.
Those extensions have their own pricing arrangements.
If you manage several domains, check each extension separately when planning your renewal budget.
Will your Truehost domain price increase by 6.2%?
The wholesale announcement does not automatically mean your Truehost bill will increase by 6.2% or at all.
Registrars set their retail prices independently, so the percentage change at checkout can differ from the registry adjustment.
For the current cost, visit our domain pricing page and check the registration and renewal columns separately.
A first-year promotional price can differ from the amount you pay to keep your domain the following year. Before completing your order, review:
The registration price for your selected term.
The renewal price.
The final payable total, including any applicable taxes.
Any conditions attached to a promotional offer.
For an existing domain, check the renewal amount in your Truehost account or contact our support team for clarification.
When our pricing changes because of this, we will make another announcement.
Should you register or renew before October?
If you already have a business name in mind, check its availability and the current registration price now.
You can register your .co.za domain before your website is ready.
For an existing domain, we recommend you make an earlier renewal to still benefit from the current pricing.
The registry’s cutoff depends on successful processing before the deadline. Placing an order shortly before midnight may leave too little time for payment confirmation and processing.
Early registration or renewal is worth considering when it fits your plans and offers a confirmed saving.
There is little value in buying domains you do not need simply because prices are changing.
How to prepare if you manage several domains
For businesses and agencies with multiple domains, use this update as a reason to review your renewal schedule.
List your domains and expiry dates. Include client domains, campaign addresses and alternative brand names.
Check each renewal price. Use the renewal amount when budgeting, rather than the original promotional registration price.
Prioritise essential domains. Pay particular attention to names connected to your website, business email and customer communications.
Review unused domains carefully. Check for active email addresses, redirects or other dependencies before deciding to let a name expire.
